Its tidy form and coastal toughness make the Metrosideros ‘Lighthouse’ a good choice for street plantings and compact gardens.

Metrosideros ‘Lighthouse’ growing conditions in NZ

Metrosideros ‘Lighthouse’ performs well in full sun and adapts to varied New Zealand conditions, including wind, coastal exposure, and dry spells once established. Suitable for smaller gardens, public plantings, streetscapes, and low-maintenance landscapes. Metrosideros ‘Lighthouse’ also works well as a feature tree, informal screen, or clipped specimen where space is limited.

Metrosideros ‘Lighthouse’ size, spacing, and growth rate

Metrosideros ‘Lighthouse’ typically reaches around 8m tall and 4m wide, forming a dense, rounded canopy, with a moderate growth rate. Allow enough spacing for natural development, particularly when using it as a specimen or avenue tree. Plant clear of paths or structures where a full canopy spread is desired, though its compact habit makes it easier to place than larger Pōhutukawa.
